I am Haksoo Ko, the Initial Principal Investigator for the CTAI’s research activities.

The CTAI commenced its activities in 2022, with the objective of promoting interdisciplinary research on AI trustworthiness, an increasingly important area in the scientific and engineering context as well as in the social and policy context. Shortly after substantial research initiatives were underway, however, I assumed the role of Chairperson at the Personal Information Protection Commission. Consequently, I discontinued my participation in the CTAI’s research undertakings.

Upon completing my three-year appointment, I returned to Seoul National University in October 2025 and am prepared to actively contribute to the research initiatives at the CTAI. The experience and knowledge acquired through my recent policy work are anticipated to provide valuable and actionable insights that will support the CTAI’s continued commitment to advancing trustworthy AI.
