The Center for Trustworthy AI (CTAI) is a Convergence Research Center (CRC) engaging in interdisciplinary research that bridges technology, humanities, and social sciences to enhance the trustworthiness of AI systems

Our mission transcends the traditional focus on abstract ethical principles, instead striving to establish practical, actionable standards that address the specific social risks and harms stemming from diverse AI applications.

To accomplish this, CTAI conducts empirical and qualitative research on the benefits and risks posed by AI systems, as well as people’s perceptions and attitudes towards them. One of our primary goals is to translate these findings into standards, converting them into quantifiable metrics that developers can implement in real-world AI applications.

CTAI is dedicated to rapidly disseminating the value and benefits of trustworthy AI throughout society by focusing on real-world use cases and overcoming the limitations of fragmented research across disciplines and domains, laying a solid foundation for future interdisciplinary AI research.

Understanding the importance of long-term vision and investment, CTAI is also committed to cultivating the next generation of researchers. As part of this effort, we develop and offer a variety of courses designed to develop convergent talents and foster the growth of future AI leaders.
