Title: Calibrating Trust in Conversational Generative AI
Abstract: How do we calibrate our trust in a dynamic technology that learns from and adapts to our behaviour, shapes our online environment, and works as a general purpose, all-encompassing virtual assistant who even asks about our emotions? In this lecture, Theo Araujo will discuss trust formation and calibration on conversational Generative AI agents such as ChatGPT, while reflecting on the research program of the project AlgoSoc – Public Values in the Algorithmic Society. In addition, Araujo will discuss how citizen science, in particular data donation, can help us in this process.
